Court To Discuss Punitive Damages Monday Afternoon
WASHINGTON -- A federal jury has found Allen Iverson liable for negligent supervision of his bodyguard.
The jury reached its decision Monday afternoon in the multimillion-dollar lawsuit against the Denver Nuggets guard. The jury awarded $250,000 for pain and suffering and $10,000 for medical expenses, News4's Chris Gordon reported.
The former Georgetown star was accused of standing by as his entourage beat two men at a nightclub two years ago. Marlin Godfrey and David Anthony Kittrell said Iverson also hit one of them with a bottle.
Iverson testified last week that he didn't see the fight in question and said he was a target because of his wealth.
After a one-hour break, the court will hold discussions on possible punitive damages.
The jury also found the bodyguard liable for assault and battery, Gordon reported.
I know he's pissed off like a muddaphucka. I hope they hold the two bodyguards for more than just the charge itself. They oughta come out of the pocket too. That mean one was one of the two bodyguards involved, and if I know him, he beat those dudes to a pulp. You ever seen or known anybody that was just mean for no reason? Well that best describes this particular bodyguard. He's a trip! SMH.
Damn, and he has another lawsuit coming up too. I hope he pays more attention to his "staff" now but I do agree that the bodyguards need to pay up too especially since they were the ones actually assaulting the people.
I wonder if this is going to make h im pay attention to staff or not. Probably not. I know he is hopping that he wins the other lawsuit. I agree though the bodyguard should have to pay something too.
