MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Police were investigating the shooting and mortal wounding Sunday night of a man on the University of Memphis campus.
"There was an incident on our campus last night that may have involved a current or former football player," said Bob Winn, associate athletic director at University of Memphis.
The Daily Helmsman, the university newspaper, reported that the man killed was Taylor Bradford, a junior defensive lineman from Nashville, Tenn. He was pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.
Officials ordered the campus to be put on lockdown on Sunday night and canceled Monday's classes.
Initial reports said the victim was driving a vehicle through the university when he was shot. His vehicle then crashed into a tree along a nearby street.
Authorities have questioned witnesses, but had no one in custody early Monday.
The university had 20,562 students enrolled for last fall, according to its Web site.
The school was founded in 1912 as West Tennessee State Normal School and was eventually renamed the University of Memphis in 1994.

What in the hayle is going on around these university campuses?! Everybody seems to be having grudges with other students and this shit is getting out of control. I just heard on the radio that the university is still on lockdown at this very moment, while they continue to look for the shooter.
