DENVER – Nuggets star Allen Iverson is facing a possible suspension after he was ejected near the end of Tuesday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks.
The Nuggets lost the game to Atlanta, 104-93.
Late in the fourth quarter, Iverson was shoved out of bounds right in front of referee John Gobel. No foul was called and the Hawks got the basketball. The next time down the court, Iverson got tripped and Gobel apparently did not see that either, so the Hawks once again got the ball.
That is when Iverson lost his temper. He protested to Gobel and was ejected. J.R. Smith joined the argument and was also ejected.
At one point Iverson rushed toward Gobel, but Linas Kleiza grabbed Iverson around the waist and pulled him back.
Even though Iverson never actually made contact with Gobel, sometimes players get suspended just for acting aggressively toward an official.
Man am I mad I missed the highlights of both ejections! It had to be serious if AI went off! He normally tries his hardest to walk away but it sounds like the refs, like usual, were cheating. The Commissioner needs to crack down on these refs and stop protecting them.
