ATLANTA (AP)—Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson has been released from jail following his arrest on drug charges.
Fulton County Jail spokeswoman Tracey Flanagan says Anderson was let out on $6,000 bond Sunday evening.
Anderson is charged with felony cocaine possession and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
The 36-year-old played eight seasons for the Falcons before leaving with a knee injury in 2001. He worked as an NFL analyst for ESPN this past season.
Atlanta police say Anderson and 20-year-old Mark Daniel Hudson are accused of having powder cocaine in their possession and that Anderson had a suspected marijuana cigarette at an Atlanta tavern.
A phone number for a lawyer listed for Anderson could not be immediately found.
This story is a tad suspect to me. Of all the reports I've read on this story, I still have yet to read "why" Jamal and this guy, who finally has a name, were suspected of having cocaine in their possession. What led that off-duty cop (who was on duty as a bouncer or bodyguard, I believe) to call police? Did they pull it out of their pockets? Was there white power on their noses? How about white lines on the table they were sitting at??? So many unanswered questions, but it appears he was under the radar, if not the other guy.
