MEMPHIS, Tennessee — The Memphis Grizzlies have parted ways with disgruntled guard Allen Iverson after just two months, the National Basketball Association team announced Monday.
The 34-year-old American, who signed as a free agent in September, left the team on November 7, citing personal reasons.
"The Grizzlies and Allen Iverson have come to a mutual agreement that because of personal matters that forced him to leave the team on November 7, Allen will step away from the game at this time," Grizzlies general manager Chris Wallace said.
"As a result, we will be ending our contractual agreement with Allen, which will allow both parties to move forward. We wish Allen the best."
Iverson appeared in parts of three games with the Grizzlies but did not start. He missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury.
Iverson averaged 12.3 points and 3.7 assists in those games, playing just over 22 minutes a game.
Well all I can say is I'm glad that I hadn't bought my tickets yet for when they played Cleveland -LOL-... But I doubt that he'll even come back since they say "he's stepping away from the game for a while"
Xivyzxluvax, I just read an article a few minutes ago that said he is open to coming off the bench...*if it's the right situation*. First of all, he ain't have no damn business in Memphis. He was desperate anytime he went to play for that team! His attitude about the situation is all fucked up and until he changes his tune, or swallows his pride, which we all know is a challenge for him, he'll continuously be looking for a job in the 2009-2010 season and beyond.
I also believe he's waiting to see if Cleveland is going to pick him up. That has been in the rumor mill (only slightly) for the past couple of days.
