LMAO that mofo is HOT!!! He's blaming everybody but his "album" for not being up to parr to earn a Grammy nomination. Between he and Kanye, I can't decide who the millenium Little Richard is. "I ain't won nothing!! SHUT UP!!!"
There's no denying his writing and producing abilities but his album isn't Grammy worthy in my opinion. Sorry Dream. I mean I would have to go back and really listen but it's not like the album was that memorable compared to others that came out this year. On the other hand, be happy that the other two albums you worked on, Jamie's and Beyonce's, are nominated.
Sidenote: How does everyone feel about Beyonce being nominated for 10 Grammys which ties with Lauryn Hill for the most for a female artist I believe.
^^On the web site where I jacked this thread from, someone said the exact same thing! That he needs to be happy that Jamie and Beyonce's albums were nominated.
As far as Beyonce earning 10 noms, I think it's crazy. IMO, the "I Am...Sasha Fierce" CD was the worst of the three she's put out. It was the first CD of hers that I actually paid money for, and it was just aight. Yeah, there are some cool songs on there, however, Dangerously in Love and B'Day CDs ran circles around it.

My whole thing is that Beyonce oversatuates the market waaaaayyyyy too much for me. Her image and her father's marketing sometimes overshadows her music and creativity IMO. I see this more with this album than the other two because I felt the other two deserved the accolades it recieved, especially Dangerously in Love because it was the ish! I don't think she's going to win all 10 and all 10 aren't just for her album. I believe one is for her covering Etta James' "At Last" and the Song of the Year nomination is for the songwriter. Lauryn Hill had 10 nominations for the Miseducation of Lauryn Hill but the CD is a masterpiece. Can we say this about Beyonce's? There's no doubt she has great work ethic and she gives great performances. The problem is where is everyone else's. No one has a marketing push like Beyonce which sucks. And then there's Rihanna who's is going to be half-naked everytime you see her, can't sing a lick but gets Number 1 singles like they drop out the sky. I think the standards for artists have declined and its unforunate because the artist who do put out good music sometimes don't get the recognition they deserve or the push from the record labels.

Sorry for the rant but I'm a big music fan LOL!
Nah, don't be sorry, because I feel you 100%. Today's music is horrible, and I am SO glad I came up in the era that I did. Very, very FEW artists out here today have real music that touches your soul, but for the most part, I don't think today's artists are passionate about their music as earlier artists have been. If they were, they wouldn't have to use their bodies as a promotion tool to sell records. Their voice would do all of the promoting for them. Sadly, none of these so-called artists understand that. The Marketing Execs and the A&R folks (if they aren't one in the same) at these record companies have no marketing experience whatsoever. They don't have a great ear for good music either. I think it's so sad how a lot of GREAT artists get slept on because the music they're singing is very good. Ledisi, Leela James, Hil St. Soul, India Arie....the list goes on and on. Powerful voices, full of soul, but not enough presence in the music industry.
I would absolutely LOVE to open up a poetry lounge here in the city....or some big city for that matter, just to showcase these artists, and local artists, every weekend. Get back into the whole Renaissance Era and have a lounge where people can relax and unwind to great sounds of soul, or listen to spoken word that allows you to open your mind. I'm all about relaxation because I'm in a career field that's beyond stressful. Neo-soul music relaxes me. I pop open a bottle of wine, put on some Ledisi, Jill Scott, Maxwell (the old CDs), or Angie Stone, and I'm straight.
