It may have only been the end of the exhibition season, but Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was in mid-season form.
"I still don't think they (Cavaliers) beat us, we beat ourselves," Wallace said. "And I think we also fell victim to that personal NBA thing where they are trying to make it a world game and get (television) ratings. They wanted to put their darling in there (the NBA Finals) and they did, and look what ended up happening.
"This game ain't basketball anymore, it's entertainment," Wallace said. "It's starting to get like the WWF. There ain't no real wrestling anymore either. It's all fake."
I'm sorry but I have to agree with Rasheed on this one. I mean, it ain't like it was a big secret to begin with. The NBA has really gone down hill over the last decade or two because it's not about the game anymore. It's about money. After reading this one novel that a former personal assistant of an NBA star wrote, shoot, I don't put anything past the officials of the games OR the players themselves. If the refs aren't gambling, then the players are shaving points. It's all illegal, but then again, it makes the league money. Then, if that's not enough to convince anyone, think about how all of these foreign players are coming into the league. There was a time when they acted as if they didn't want to deal with any international players. Case in point: Toni Kukoc. That man wasn't allowed to step foot in the NBA as a Bulls player until AFTER Jordan retired. They had been talking about the man for YEARS, but the Bulls would never sign him. Come to find out, Jordan made the call to NOT have him there. The league hyped Kukoc up so much that I believe Jordan was a little nervous about playing with him. Those "Jordan Rules" were off the chain, SMDH.
The NBA is going to be an international game in the next 5-10 years. It's actually happening already. Look at how they're trying to have All-Star Weekend overseas. Hell, the league is going to be overseas in a little while. There won't be any stateside teams at all. The game has become so boring that it's ridiculous. High school ball is MUCH more entertaining.
i love the NBA i dont care what Rasheed Wallace says...until i see something blatant with my two eyes im gonna continue to love the game...i mean what he's saying could be true, but i dont care...BUT if the NBA does go internation i will no longer love it...shit its called the NationalBasketball Association...not feeling that international shit one bit
