A couple of Hip Hop's brightest stars may be nearing the end of their careers, as their next album will be their third, and could possibly their last.
The Game's DJ, Nu Jerzey Devil recently spoke to MTV, and said that the Game was nearing the completion of his new album, LAX. Always close to the surface of any Game project is the involvement or non-involvement of Dr. Dre. Nu Jerzey Devil also told MTV that Dre has submitted tracks, but did not say they were certain to be included on the album.
Other talk centered on Game's potential 'retirement.' "Unless something tremendous happens with this album, he'll probably fall back and play the executive role. But this album is sounding better than his first two. He's at his peak. I'm [going to] do everything in my power to keep him going. I think everything will be good," he said.
Retirement talk is nothing new for Lupe Fiasco, who has said several times that his next album will be the last. He even mentioned it on his latest album, The Cool, which still stands as the number one rap album in the country since it's December release. The guys at caught up with Lupe in Fiasco following a performance at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.
Fiasco said a retirement was currently at 85% certainty. "It actually fluctuates...It was 96% about a week ago...I just get tired you know? I get tired. It's a tiring pace that I keep....I realized stuff that was exciting to me [when I found fame] was stuff I was already doing. A lot of the stuff that people would equate with success, I was already doing at like 19. So now that I'm here at 25 it's like ...[there's not much left to excite me]"
Any thoughts on this? I really don't have any; don't really care. I think they are both great artists in their own way, but if they aren't feeling the music, then it's best that they depart the business. i'd respect them more for leaving than hanging around and putting out BS just because.
