Aretha Franklin, who has long been known as the Queen of Soul, lashed out at Beyonce for bestowing the honour to someone else at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 10).
In a statement issued yesterday, Franklin called Beyonce's remarks a "cheap shot for controversy," referring to her introduction of Tina Turner, with whom Beyonce performed a duet on the show.
Beyonce said in her introduction of Turner, "There is one legend who has the essence of all of those things: the glamour, the soul, the passion, the strength, the talent. Ladies and gentlemen, stand on your feet and give it up for the queen."
Franklin, who apparently felt that she was the only one deserving of the title, was obviously miffed about the entire ordeal, although she added, "love to Beyonce anyway."
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Damn Aretha! Everybody knows you're the Queen of Soul. Sheez! Maybe in Beyonce's eyes, Tina Turner is the Queen. Lawd. People get ticked off about the sillyest shit sometimes. SMDH.
LMAO! I was saying the same thing when I heard about this. She is really serious! I thought the intro was nice and I don't think Bee meant any disrespect.
