Static Major, a popular music producer of the group Playa, died Monday in his hometown of Louisville, KY.

Static Major, whose birth name is Stephen Garrett, has worked with artists like Ginuwine, Aaliyah, Pretty Ricky, Jay-Z and David Banner.

He produced Ginuwine's hit song "Pony" and  Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody?", which was featured on the Dr. Dolittle soundtrack.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, but early speculation says that he might have suffered a brain aneurysm.

He leaves behind a wife and four children and will be missed.


I used to luv this dude back in the 90s and early 2000/2001. "Cheers 2 U" was a beautiful song. Static was VERY talented. He will be missed. RIP to him and God Bless his family and children.
