Rev. Al is HOT with Tavis Smiley! I first heard about this on Michael Baisden's talk show earlier today and was all into it. It appears that Tavis Smiley doesn't believe that President Obama is committed to supporting Black folks. Click on the link below to hear the audio.

People say Tavis has issues with President Obama because he didn't attend his State of the Black Union back in 2008, and he's been negative towards him ever since he decided to run for President. I'm not a fan of either guy, but I can understand why Rev. Al is so upset. Tavis is making assumptions about what he and other black leaders were discussing at the White House, when in fact, they were discussing the job bill that was just passed by the Senate earlier today, and is en route to the House. To me, it sounds like Tavis is jealous of President Obama, and perhaps he's a little jealous that he wasn't invited to that meeting at the White House with Rev. Al. Either way, to make such an assumption makes him truly look like an ass. I don't know about anybody else, but umemployment, education, and the mortgage crisis are very well a part of the African American community as any other. Hell, the Recession as a whole! Sadly, I have a brother and a niece that are *victims* of it at this very moment. I personally don't feel that President Obama should *separate* issues based on race. That's a riot waiting to happen and it's not about all of that. I hope Tavis isn't that ignorant of a man to actually want Obama to forget about everyone else and just work on our own people. He can't be that ignorant, can he??? Sheez! Obama ain't a miracle worker! He's just the President of the United States. And let's keep it real. Before anyone can expect a helping hand from ANYBODY, they must first learn to help themselves. Sadly, we all know someone or people period, that refuse to even try. Don't want to do a damn thing but sit and wait for someone to hand them something.
I am VERY curious about this forum Tavis is hosting next month in Chicago. I need to get the date so that I can watch it. I saw it on a website earlier this evening, but I can't remember where I saw it. Oh well, I'll find it.
