Fantasia Barrino, the third "American Idol," has been accused of having an affair with a married man, CNN reports, with recordings made of their, ahem, "activity" -- and of doing it in a state where a tape of that kind of "activity" could come back to bite her in a court of law.
In a North Carolina divorce filing, Paula Cook alleges that the singer took up with her husband, Antwuan Cook, after the two met in August 2009 at the cellphone store where he worked. According to the documents, Fantasia took Antwuan to Atlanta, Miami, New York, L.A. and Barbados over the course of the alleged affair.
North Carolina's not a great state for this sort of thing either. Adultery there is a still a crime -- for real. "You can sue that third party," says a law expert quoted by Bossip. "Most of the cases involve sex, it doesn’t have to be sex, it can be something much lower."
Rumors of an affair were floating around gossip circles in November 2009; according to TMZ, Barrino has denied it all. Divorce papers were filed Wednesday.
So, is it ever worth the risk to make a sex tape? Let us know in the nonscientific poll after the jump -- and feel free to explain, tastefully, in comments.
Fanny, Fanny, Fanny! You and this Antwuan Cook character! The dick is gonna ruin your damn comeback AND career for real! Your album is set to drop tomorrow and you can't even enjoy it because of this fooly-wang! You need to steer clear of this dude and find you a man without any drama attached to him....or a wife! You're getting too old for all of this ghetto fabulousness. Take care of your DAUGHTER and teach her the correct way so that the cycle can be BROKEN!
I'm still giving you the side-eye for that tattoo on the left side of your upper chest that says Cook. Bruh must be putting it DOWN for you to do some shit like that. SMDH.
And ain't that some SHIT how a third party can be sued when they're involved in an affair?! Whoa! I gotta research and find out the remaining six states that also allow this.
