Groundbreaking comedy sketch show "In Living Color" is returning to Fox, the network said Friday.
The series, which ran from 1990 to 1994, is being reprised in the form of two half-hour specials, to air in spring 2012. Keenen Ivory Wayans, who co-created and produced the original series, has signed on to host and executive-produce.
The network said that the specials will bring "a modern-day take on the hit sketch comedy show that will feature a new cast of fresh, young talent, as well as musical performances by special guests."
Known for bringing a cutting, urban twist to the sketch-comedy genre, "In Living Color" launched the careers of Jim Carrey and Jamie Foxx, among others. No word on whether Carrey or Foxx will participate in the revamped version -- or whether Jennifer Lopez will be back to reclaim her role in the Fly Girls dance troupe.

I can't believe they are bringing this show back. There's a time for everything, and this show has had its time. In a way, I can understand Keenen's "possible" idea of bringing the show back to showcase new talent and "upgrading" it a bit, but....why? It's 20+ years later. Let it go. Find something else to do. Sketch comedy is not what it used to be and people lose interest quick. I'll be surprised if I watch it. And the writer of this article is ridiculously crazy if he thinks J-Lo would come back to the show to dance. Really??? Chile boo. If anything, there will probably be a whole clan of third generation Wayans on the show that no one has heard of but will be in the spotlight. I just think this is a bad move all the way around.
I would love if they brought back the original cast throughout the season to play their original character such as Jamie for Wanda, Jim Carey and Tommy Davidson. I think that would be hilarious!
